Hits Me Where it Hurts

A violent sunrise becomes
A superfluous sunrise;
As the birds become
The extent of my waking thoughts.

And all hell breaks loose;
The culmination of
Utterance marked with greed.

And the vast expanse
Is filled with starlight.

Even now I pray;

Holy and unpredictable God,
Who seeks not destruction,
But the contriteness of His people’s hearts,

I lay myself at your feet
And conquering all gravity,
Let’s my voice reach You;

Give me, my God,
A burning lamp,
And set my feet
Deep within the Earth;

And help me bear fruit
For the nations.
